Crystal Drive/Plantation Road Roundabout Design
Public Information Workshop “OPEN HOUSE”
The Lee County Department of Transportation (LC DOT) is holding a public information workshop for the Crystal Drive/Plantation Road Roundabout Design, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Life Church, 11735 Plantation Road, Fort Myers, FL. The public is encouraged to attend ANYTIME between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.
The Lee County Department of Transportation (LC DOT) is designing a roundabout to improve the intersection of Crystal Drive and Plantation Road. A roundabout is a type of circular intersection in which motorists travel in one direction around a central island. Roundabouts have been used in other countries for several decades and research of roundabouts has refined the concept of a traffic circle into a design that has gained wider acceptance. Currently, construction is not funded. Lee County’s goal is to obtain the community’s input on the roundabout option before funding the project for construction.
