What is a "STRAP Number"?

A STRAP (or STRABL) number is a unique property identification number given to every parcel of land.  The letters in "STRAP" stand for Section, Township, Range, Area and Parcel, but a new lettering system has been put in place which replaced Parcel with Block and Lot.  To save time and money in changing every instance of STRAP to STRABL, STRAP is still the most commonly used title.  In many cases, for information on a parcel, you may be asked for the STRAP number. This number can be found on the property tax bill or, alternatively, call the Property Appraiser at 339-6150 or visit their website for assistance. Please have the name of the owner of the property and the street address to obtain a STRAP number.

This identification consists of 17 digits which are broadly described as follows:

STRAP Number breakdown

Section: A Section is typically a square mile of land containing 640 acres. The Section is two digits which range from 01 to 36.
