Lee County is in the process of working through the Complete Streets Implementation Action Plan. Staff are using a number of resources to complete this process.
The county has created the Complete Streets Team, one of the County Manager's key Interdepartmental Performance Teams, through which staff work across departments to make key decisions. This approach eliminates silos, or decisions made in a single department. The Complete Streets Team includes representation from Transportation, Community Development, Human Services, Utilities, Parks & Recreation, Transit (LeeTran), County Lands, Economic Development, and Sustainability.
The Community Sustainability Advisory Committee has created a Complete Streets Working Group to assist them in making policy recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners. This group is made up of committee members and interested members of the public.
The recommendations that come out of this process are considered by the Board of County Commissioners in making decisions related to Complete Streets projects.
